Manage Provider Accounts
Inspect connected accounts, reconnect them, and manage their metadata, Scopes, and automatic proxies in the Dashboard.
Open an Application's Accounts page to manage its connected provider accounts. To add a new one, use Link an Account.
All organization members can link and reconnect accounts and use the metadata and available automatic proxy controls. Removing accounts and assigning Scopes is restricted to Admins and Owners in Production; Members can do so in Development. See Organization permissions.
Find an account
Use the search field and provider, connection status, and Scope filters. Choose No scope in the Scope filter to show accounts without a Scope. Filters narrow the selected application's list; use Load more when more results are available.
Open Display options to:
- Switch between Accounts, with one row per account, and Products, with one row per connected product.
- Show or hide the account ID, Scope, proxy, synchronization status, and connection date.
Click a status badge to see its explanation, affected products, error reason when available, and recommended action. An account can be partially connected or degraded while some products still work. See Connection Status.
If subscription access is locked, the list shows the account as disabled for API access. This is separate from the provider's connection state; see Billing.
Inspect account details
Click an account's name to open its detail page. You can:
- Copy its Unipile account ID, Scope ID, and migrated V1 account ID when present.
- View the provider user ID and connection date.
- Open the provider profile for LinkedIn or Instagram when a profile link is available.
- Inspect the connection state and product-level explanations.
- Inspect automatic or custom proxy details, including the configured and current country.
- View Initial Sync status and start time for WhatsApp and IMAP.
- View the OAuth permissions granted for Google and Outlook.
OAuth permissions shown on the account are the permissions actually granted to that account. Changing application defaults alone does not change them; reconnect the account when new consent is needed.
Read the account history
The timeline records status changes, proxy changes, and assignments to a Scope. Entries include their reason where available and, for product transitions, the affected product.
Hover or focus the relative timestamp to read the exact date and time. Use View more to load older entries. A proxy change in the history is an observation, not a button to undo that change.
When investigating an outage, compare the history with the account status and webhook delivery logs. See Troubleshoot Connection Issues.
Reconnect an account
When a status explanation offers reconnection, choose:
- Quick authenticate to authenticate again using the quick reconnection flow.
- Authenticate with custom link to review the account's current settings and generate a customized reconnection link.
You can also open the account's actions menu and choose Re-authenticate to open the advanced flow. Complete authentication using the same provider identity already associated with the account.
The existing account ID and Scope are preserved. The advanced flow can change provider options such as OAuth permissions, LinkedIn products, or proxy configuration; see Advanced Authentication.
For an errored service interruption, follow the status explanation before reconnecting. Unipile retries recoverable provider and proxy failures automatically; reauthentication is primarily for a disconnected account or a deliberate configuration change.
Assign an account to a Scope
For an account without a Scope:
- Open its actions menu and choose Assign to Scope.
- Select an active Scope in the same application.
- Review the warning and confirm Assign permanently.
The account cannot later be moved to another Scope or made unscoped. If it already has a Scope, this action is not offered. Members can assign accounts in Development; Admins and Owners can do so in all applications.
See Scopes for access boundaries and what to do if an account was assigned incorrectly.
Manage custom metadata
The metadata card contains your own string key-value data:
- Use the add action to enter a key and value.
- Use the edit icon beside an entry to change its key or value.
- Use the delete icon to remove an entry.
These values are account metadata, not provider settings or access controls. Through the API, the Update an Account metadata object replaces metadata.custom_data; include existing entries you want to preserve.
Manage automatic proxy protection
The proxy card distinguishes the configured rotation country from the current country of the proxy in use. A fallback can cause them to differ. Automatic protection applies to LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and Instagram; other providers can have a custom proxy.
Change the rotation country
- Open the edit action beside the rotation country.
- Select the intended country.
- Save the change.
This requests a new automatic proxy for that country. Availability and the fallback setting determine whether a proxy from a different country may be selected. If the current country differs from the rotation country, the card can offer a refresh action to request the configured country again.
Allow or prevent country fallback
Use Allow country fallback and confirm the change:
- Enabled: Unipile may use a proxy from another country when the requested country is unavailable.
- Disabled: the account must use the configured country. If no suitable proxy is available, it can enter a service interruption instead of switching countries.
If you disable fallback while the current proxy is in another country, review the warning before confirming.
Automatic proxy settings cannot be modified while an account is disconnected. Choose the desired settings in its reauthentication flow instead. To set, replace, or remove a custom proxy, use Advanced Authentication or Update an Account, according to the change you need. See Proxies for proxy priority and country behavior.
Remove an account
Open the account's actions menu, choose Remove, and confirm the deletion. The connection is removed from Unipile; this does not delete the original account on LinkedIn, Google, or another provider.
Use reconnection to repair authentication when you want to keep the existing Unipile account ID. Removing and linking again creates a new connection rather than reconnecting that ID. Removing an account later in the billing period does not reduce a peak already reached; see Billing.
